What We Do
YEG’s focus is to acquire and manage multi-family revenue properties in growing strategic markets across Canada with strong economic fundamentals, and to grow the Net Operating Income (NOI) and the Net Asset Value (NAV) of our revenue property portfolio.

Leadership Team
Bill Smith
Chairman of the Board
Mr. Smith was previously the Chairman and Senior VP of a publicly trading company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange, and Director and Senior VP of a private Alberta corporation. His career includes that of a professional athlete (Edmonton Eskimos), and Mayor of the City of Edmonton for three terms. He has also served on a number of public and private boards as Director and Chairman.
Ben Lui
President, Chief Executive Officer and Director
Mr. Lui graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Computer Science and Commerce. Mr. Lui has since gained diverse professional experience in information systems and business management consulting, as well as business owner and operator in property management, manufacturing, import and distribution, media publication and hospitality industries. In the mid 1980’s, Mr. Lui started his real estate business encompassing investment, development and asset management, and has achieved multiple Award of Excellence in Multi Family Residential development.
William Harper
Chief Financial Officer & Corporate Secretary
Mr. Harper obtained the Chartered Accountant (CA) designation after graduating from the University of British Columbia with a B.Sc. degree, and currently is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of British Columbia. Mr. Harper is currently an experienced Chief Financial Officer of another public company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and he has also previously served in a Vancouver based CPA firm as an Audit Manager working with public and private companies across a wide spectrum of industries, including in the real estate sector. William brings with him a broad wealth of public company compliance and financial reporting expertise.
R. (Reg) Liyanage
Executive Vice President
Mr. Liyanage holds a B.Sc. degree from the University of Alberta and comes from a financial services background, and has held leadership positions, as well as ownership in a variety of businesses. In the commercial real estate field, Mr. Liyanage has over 30 years of experience with a focus on the successful marketing of a variety of commercial real estate properties as well as syndications. In addition, Mr. Liyanage has extensive experience in project management, development, and redevelopment of commercial properties.
Jason Theiss
Director, Audit Committee Chair
Mr. Theiss is a Chartered Professional Accountant who has over 12 years post designation accounting experience in managing finance and accounting personnel. Since June 2007, Mr. Theiss has been the Chief Financial Officer of a publicly trading company listed on the TSX. Mr. Theiss has been involved in an executive management role for several public and private corporations. He has a Chartered Professional Accountant designation and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
Mark Wilbert
Director
Mr. Wilbert is a partner at a real estate brokerage and has over 10 years of experience in both commercial and residential transactions, focusing on investment properties from distressed assets to apartment buildings. His background includes real estate investment, commercial banking, international logistics and international law. Mr. Wilbert holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and graduated from the Department of International Relations at Fudan University in Shanghai.
