Yorkton was invited to attend Edmonton Police Service’s Change of command Ceremony held in Edmonton City Hall. Warren R Driecel was appointed as Chief of Police on September 19, 2025.
Chief Driecel began his career with EPS in 1997 and is the first EPS officer promoted internally to the top role in over 20 years. He has served in various roles within the EPS. As Chief, Driechel will be focusing on proactive policing, improving community engagement, and expanding public safety initiatives, such as tackling homeless encampments in, but not limit to, Chinatown.
